Partnership with Peter Auto from 2020 to 2022
Estoril Classics joins the major classic car circuits tour at world level
Estoril Classics announced its partnership with Peter Auto from 2020 to 2022 yesterday, which will place it on the map of the major classic car circuits at world level, such as Les Mans Classic, SPA Classic and Chantilly Arts & Elegance. This association will bring to Cascais council world class pilots, as well as a great number of international travellers with huge economic potential.
Beyond the direct impact generated by the tourists’ travels and stays, this event will also have a multiplying effect owing to the rise in the Cascais region’s notoriety and prestige in the Gentleman Drivers segment. It is expected to trigger an increase in the activities held throughout the year, namely: visits to classic car clubs and a rise in the number of foreigners who travel to Portugal in search of the perfect spot to explore with family and friends; practicing for races prior to events; and car overhauling in Portugal, an industry that is clearly on the up.
The second edition of Estoril Classics will be held in Estoril from 8 to 13 October 2019, and it is the only event to combine five classic motorbike and car segments in the concours: Historical Portugal Rally, ACP Elegance, Classic Formula I, Spirit of Speed Bikes, Historic Endurance and 1000 km Sports Cars and HGPCA Formula 1. The event has an international scale and is the only one that brings together the various categories of classic cars, attracting enthusiasts from all over the world, together with the greatest motorcycle and automobile legends.
The first edition, held in 2018, brought to the Estoril race track and the Casino Estoril gardens about 900 participants and 65 thousand visitors over 6 days. The investment amounted to around 1.5 million euros.
With three stages placed in Serra de Sintra mountain range, the Casino Estoril gardens and the Estoril race track, the event is divided into three categories – Elegance, Rally and Race Circuit. The last category includes seven grids: Classic F1 – Formula up to 1984; HGPCA – Formula 1 up to1966; 1000 km Sports Cars – Le Mans Sports cars up to 1973; Iberian Historic Endurance – GT and Tourism up to 1976; FIA Formula Junior Championship up to 1961; Tourism Group 1 up to 1981; Spirit of Speed Bikes.
The event will be hosted by the Cascais Tourism Board with the support of Cascais Town Hall, featuring partners such as ACP – Automóvel Club de Portugal, Race Ready – Iberian Historic Racing, and Motor Clube do Estoril. It will also be assisted by Estoril Sol and the Estoril race track.
